In the Software Engineering / IT / Tech fields, many candidates receive hundreds of emails, messages, calls from Recruiters on Job-Boards (LinkedIn..), emails and other Channels. They talk about a future opportunity that matches their qualification and their expectations.
After a phone screening with a Recruiter, their resume gets submitted to the Hiring Manager, but sometimes it takes time : more than 2 - 3 weeks, sometimes a month !
In this article, I want to mention some reasons why you don't get a Feed-back after your resume gets submitted?
1. A lot of applicants:
Perhaps the job has more than +200 applicants and they still didn't arrive to your application, Therefore you have to be patient and wait for your turn.
2. There is a candidate in an advanced step:
Maybe there is 5 candidates in an advanced step in the process. So you have to wait your turn. Sometime you'll be removed from the process because one of these Candidates is so good and he won the position before you had the chance to show your skills.
3. On-hold:
As you can see in the title, the position is on-hold. Perhaps the company is no longer looking for a candidate but just for a period of time. Maybe after 1 month they'll start interviewing again and they just don't want to remove you from the process because they still want to interview you after a period of time.
4. Not Urgent:
Sometimes a company receives a lot of applications, but because this position is not a Top priority for the Client, they just don't give big attention to all these applications.
5. No longer looking for a Candidate.
Sometimes the company is just no longer want to hire a candidate, due to a lot of reasons. Maybe they hired some internal candidate and give Him/Her that position..., so you have just to forget about it and find another one.
In our recruiting firm, Novancy One, We make sure that we Inform our candidates about their status, and we even send them an email or call them after about 48 hours from the application date, and either keep them updated about everything. In case if their application is no longer active we make sure we inform them about that either.
